Understanding the flow of InstaCare™
Emergencies!
If this is an emergency, dial
911
or get yourself to a
hospital
by any means possible.
InstaCare™ is not the source for medical emergencies.
According to the American College of Emergency Physicians, you
should visit the ER if you have any of
these warning signs:
- Chest pain or pressure
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Sudden or severe pain
- Coughing blood or vomiting blood
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Sudden dizziness, weakness, or changes in vision
- Severe or persistent vomiting or diarrhea
- Changes in mental status, such as confusion
- Evaluation of an assault, physical or sexual abuse, or child abuse
Overview
It begins with signing up for the services which InstaCare™ provides. Through InstaCare™ you get access to qualified professionals who will assist you in the registration process.
You will subsequently create an electronic medical record that will be permanent and retrievable via the internet at any time in any place. This is a free service provided by Summerlin Health, the parent company of InstaCare.
This medical record will be fully confidential and protected by a personal user ID and password assuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
Your initial record will include historical data that can be augmented by scanning and uploading any prior written records and reports.
At any point in the process you will have an opportunity to interact with one of our InstaCare physicians. After your visit, a formal encounter record will be established, placed in your electronic medical record and be made available in printer friendly format. This record will include the necessary information should you wish to seek reimbursement for the encounter from your health insurance provider. Illnesses that will lend themselves to telemedicine intervention are those minor medical illnesses that are acute, episodic, routine, non-recurring and self-limited in nature.
Examples of these illnesses include:
- Upper respiratory tract infections
- Allergic conditions
- Uncomplicated urinary tract infections
- Many common dermatologic conditions.
Additionally, certain chronic conditions will be manageable by this modality, some may require documentation of prior physician visit and laboratory results.
Examples include:
- Hypercholesterolemia
- Well-controlled adult onset diabetes
- Hypertension
- Depression
- Stable adult asthma
- Chronic recurring herpes simplex virus infections
You will save a lot of time and resources over driving to your doctor and waiting in the lobby until someone can see you.

Updating your Medical Record
Please provide an updated record of your health, both present and past, so that the Medical Assistants and Doctors you communicate with can have a clear picture of what they are dealing with when assisting you. Use the "Med. Record" button at the top menu after you login.
However, if you need to "Talk to a Doctor" right away, complete the intake form first. Then update as much Medical History that you can and continue through the process.
Fill out your Billing Information
You will provide a VISA or Discover credit card on your InstaCare™ account that will be billed unless you decide to change it later on. You have a couple places to change cards if you need to. Each complete session with our service is $48.00. You will be provided printable materials at the end detailing your encounter.
Equipment Check
During this process listed above, we will automatically asses your ability to use our services by checking the browser and it's plug ins. There is nothing invasive about it as it works with tools already built into the Internet Browser itself. If you have any outdated software, you may need to upgrade before getting started. You will see a page labeled "Equipment Check" that will advise you if there are any updates or settings changes needed. For more information on this see our Help section.
Administration Intake
You will see and/or talk to a medical professional who will go over your registration and billing information to verify all the information is correct. If any questions are missed, this person will help fill in the blanks.
Medical Assistant Review
A Medical Assistant will go over your medical information with you and ask important questions about your medical history and current medications. This might be the first place you show someone a wound or describe your important issue to get help.
Doctor Encounter
After finishing with the Medical Assistant, you will be queued for a Doctor Encounter. The Doctor will go over your needs and provide feedback and if necessary recommend treatment or medication. If the Doctor prescribes medicine, you will get a printout of the prescription along with the doctors notes before you are done with the whole process.
Check Out
You will need to check out with a clerk who will see if you need to schedule an appointment and go over any final details. If you have any last questions, this is where to ask. After this step, you will be billed for your encounter. You can input another VISA or Discover credit card or use the one you put on file.
Final Step
Get your printout of the Doctor's notes and recommendations. That will have any prescriptions attached and a reminder for your next appointment.
See how it all comes together?
